Inpatient Detox
Your Platform for Recovery
Our short-stay Inpatient Detoxification Unit (IPDU) has two separate units, a 6 bedded unit and a 14 bedded unit, providing individually tailored treatment and support for people in need of a medically assisted stabilisation process, or detoxification from either alcohol or other substances.
Depending on your personal needs, your detox could last from 7 to 21 days.
Our staff liaise with service users, their families, community-based drug and alcohol treatment providers and residential rehabilitation services. This ensures that our care planning reflects evidence-based best practice and that all treatments are delivered according to individual need.
We are able to meet the full range of presenting substance misuse detoxification requirements, including but not limited to:
- Alcohol
- Opiates (heroin), opioids
- Stimulants (crack cocaine, amphetamine)
- Novel psychoactive substances, including synthetic cannabinoids (Mamba)
- Ketamine, GHB/GBL
- Over-the-counter and prescription-only medications
- Cannabis
- Polysubstance use
As an adjunct to relapse prevention, we may also prescribe medicines including:
- Disulfiram
- Acamprosate
- Naltrexone
An initial assessment at the time of admission will include a full physical health examination and a discussion regarding BBV testing, which can then be facilitated depending on clinical need.
“I really benefited from the breathing, relaxation and mindfulness sessions."
Meeting individual needs
The Level is committed to providing a psychologically informed environment which considers the emotions, thoughts and past experiences of the people we support. We understand that previous experiences may have impacted on someone physically, socially and emotionally and led them to use substances as a way of coping. We offer a holistic, person-centred approach and our interventions are targeted to individual need.
Therapeutic and activities-based input is an essential part of our offer. Our psychosocial programme focuses strongly on building therapeutic relationships with our services users, providing them with tools and coping strategies to assist their recovery.
Our dedicated Psychosocial Team facilitates evidence-based therapeutic interventions within a structured programme of recovery. Some of our group sessions are delivered by external partners, including Dear Albert, Double Impact, Narcotics Anonymous (NA) and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA).
To assist service users in continuing their recovery after detox, we also provide information on other local services, including recovery groups that can be accessed following completion of detox.
